VITAMIN K2
Vitamin K2 , also known as menaquinone, is a fat-soluble vitamin that is important for regulating blood clotting and bone health . There are several forms of vitamin K, but vitamin K2 is particularly important for bone health because it helps transport calcium to the bones and reduces the risk of osteoporosis .
Vitamin K2 is produced in small amounts by bacteria in the intestines and is also found in some foods , particularly fermented foods such as sauerkraut and natto, as well as animal products such as eggs, meat and dairy.
A vitamin K2 deficiency can lead to an increased risk of bone fractures and osteoporosis. It has also been linked to an increased risk of cardiovascular disease because it plays an important role in regulating calcium metabolism in the body.
It is important to note that vitamin K2 overdose is rare and does not usually cause negative health effects. However, it is recommended not to exceed the recommended daily dose and to consult a doctor if you have any concerns.
Vitamin K2 and Vitamin D3 work together to support healthy bone and cardiovascular health. Vitamin D3 helps absorb calcium from food and regulate calcium levels in the body, while vitamin K2 directs calcium into the bones and teeth and removes it from the arteries and soft tissues.
When the body absorbs enough vitamin D3, calcium is absorbed into the bloodstream and distributed throughout the body. However, if there is not enough vitamin K2 , the calcium can be deposited in the arteries and other soft tissues, which can lead to an increased risk of cardiovascular disease. Vitamin K2 also plays an important role in activating osteocalcin, a protein necessary for bone formation .
A sufficient intake of vitamin K2 in conjunction with vitamin D3 can help reduce the risk of bone fractures, osteoporosis and cardiovascular diseases. It is recommended to consume foods rich in both vitamins or take supplements as needed to ensure the body receives enough of both.
For this reason, among other things, vitamin K2 is included in our INTENSITY+ product
